In 1823, Leon Blum, the owner of the train of Epinac, had the idea to create a railway-line from Paris to Lyon. Several plans are available that avoid Montbard. Darey, an engineer from Dijon, proposed the route : Aisy, Montbard, Les Laumes, Blaisy and it was accepted. The line was inaugurated on June 1st, 1851 in the presence of Prince Louis-Napoleon. At that time it takes 11 hours up to link Paris to Lyon. In 1923, it takes 4 hours to get from Paris to Montbard. In 1949, the line was electrified. On September 3d, 1981, a TGV with Montbard's arms becomes operational. You need now just over an hour to reach the heart of the capital.
